Elise & Ed

Elise and Ed

Elise travelled from Bournemouth to find the gown she had fallen in love with. Jacqueline, a beautiful slipper satin and lace wedding dress, fitted perfectly and accompanied her all the way to New York for her wedding to Ed.

I remember Elise travelling all the way from Bournemouth because she had fallen in love with Jacqueline and was frightened somebody might buy her before she could get here. It was a Sunday, so I came into the boutique especially for her. Jacqueline was still waiting — and, rather wonderfully, she fitted Elise perfectly.

Only a few days later they were both heading across the Atlantic for Elise’s wedding to Ed in New York. Although I subsequently discovered that Jacqueline travelled First Class while Elise travelled Economy! Some dresses really do have adventures of their own.

Love Patricia xx

  • My Journey: I first met Patricia when I travelled up from Bournemouth on a Sunday morning to see a dress I had completely fallen in love with. I was so worried that someone else might buy it before I had the chance to try it on, but Patricia kindly came in especially to meet me. From the moment I arrived, I knew the journey had been worthwhile. The dress was Jacqueline, a beautiful slipper satin and lace gown, and unbelievably it fitted perfectly. I was flying out to America just a few days later, so the timing couldn't have been better. Looking back, I still can't believe how lucky I was. Patricia came in especially for me, the dress I loved was still there, and it turned out to be everything I had hoped for and more. Jacqueline then travelled with me across the Atlantic to New York, where it enjoyed a First Class flight while I sat in Economy! Finding my dress felt effortless, exciting and completely meant to be. It remains one of my favourite memories from the whole wedding journey.

  • Event Date: 13 Aug 2012

  • Wedding Dress: Elise wore Jacqueline, a Patricia Barclay wedding gown created in slipper satin and lace. The gown featured a strapless bodice with delicate lace detailing and a softly structured, elegant silhouette.

  • Testimonials: "Hello Patricia, Thank you so much for everything! Both I and the dress made it back to upstate New York without too many hiccups. The dress, believe it or not, got to fly First Class! (I had to stay in Economy unfortunately.) It was quite an experience travelling with it. I think the worst part was trying to go to the toilet during a six-hour delay at JFK Airport in New York. It took quite some manoeuvring, and I was very glad of the few yoga classes I'd taken. The best part was people's reactions to the dress bag. From looks of sheer terror on a group of Ukrainian teenage boys to old ladies cooing and ahhing over it. The stewards and stewardesses were much nicer too – I might have to try travelling with the dress bag again one day, even without a real dress in it! I still can't believe how lucky I was that you happened to come in that weekend. Amazing really. It all felt very surreal. Thank you again for everything, and sorry it's taken me so long to email. Work has been insanely busy since I got back. Warm wishes, Elise xx"
