When I first met Julie, I knew that designing her wedding dress wasn’t going to be about rushing towards a final decision. Julie had lots of ideas — and occasionally those ideas changed! But that was absolutely fine with me. We spent quite a few appointments working together, trying things, talking through her ideas and gradually discovering exactly what Julie wanted her wedding dress to become. For me, that has always been part of bespoke design. It doesn’t matter how long it takes; we work together until it feels right.

And Julie wasn’t the only person I was designing for. Her Christmas wedding also included Jessica and Chloe, whose beautiful purple chiffon bridesmaid dresses were created to sit alongside Julie’s gown and bring her whole wedding look together. When the dresses finally arrived and Julie saw everything together for the first time, they were more than she had imagined. That’s always the moment that makes all those appointments worthwhile.

• My Journey: When I first met Patricia, I just knew straight away that she would create my perfect dream dress. We spent quite a few appointments getting it just right — this was probably more my fault because I kept changing my mind! But Patricia was amazing. She was so patient with me, listened to all my ideas and never made me feel that we had to rush anything. Patricia also designed bridesmaid dresses for Jessica and Chloe in a gorgeous purple chiffon for my Christmas wedding. When I finally saw my actual wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses together for the first time, they were so much more than I could ever have envisaged.

• Wedding Dress: Julie wore a bespoke Lily Barclay wedding gown, designed exclusively for her by Patricia Barclay. Created in beautiful silk satin, Julie's gown featured a softly draped deep V neckline with an empire line beneath the bust, beautifully defined with diamanté embellishment. Soft silk organza sleeves added lightness and movement, complementing the fluid simplicity of the silk satin. The gown continued into an elegant skirt and train, while a deep V back completed the design. It was sophisticated, feminine and wonderfully individual — a gown that evolved through Julie's appointments until together we had created exactly what felt right for her.

• Bridesmaid Gown: Jessica and Chloe wore custom-made Lily Barclay bridesmaid dresses, designed by Patricia Barclay especially for Julie's Christmas wedding. Created in a beautiful rich purple chiffon, the floor-length gowns featured softly gathered bodices with elegant one-shoulder necklines, finished with a statement flower detail at the shoulder. The flowing chiffon skirts kept the dresses soft and feminine, while the vibrant purple worked beautifully with the festive setting and complemented the diamanté detailing of Julie's bespoke gown. Together, Julie, Jessica and Chloe's dresses were designed as one complete bridal-party look while allowing each woman to feel completely comfortable and special.
