Lorna & Dave
Lorna married Dave on 4th July 2015, at the Town Hall in Manchester, wearing a bespoke wedding gown called Zara designed by Patricia Barclay. Close family and friends helped them celebrate
Sometimes a dress seems to be waiting for exactly the right bride. When I met Lorna, I knew immediately that Zara would suit both her and the setting she had chosen for her wedding. The moment she tried it on, it fitted her beautifully and looked as though it had been designed especially for her.
Zara was a gown I had created but hadn’t yet decided which collection it would belong to. I had one of my funny little rules at the time: if the first bride to try one of these gowns looked as though it had been made for her, I would sometimes keep the design as a one-off piece rather than add it to a collection. That is exactly what happened with Lorna. Zara had found her bride. I also designed a beautiful bespoke veil to complete her wedding look. Thank you, Lorna, for trusting me. It really did feel as though this dress had been waiting for you.

My Journey: I knew I would find my perfect dress with Patricia. She seemed to understand straight away what would suit me and the style of our wedding. When I tried on Zara, it fitted perfectly and I couldn't believe how much it felt like my dress. I loved everything about it — the beautiful corded lace, the full ballgown skirt and cathedral-length train. What made it even more special was discovering that Zara was going to remain a one-off gown. I loved knowing that although the dress had already been designed, it would be mine alone. Patricia also designed a gorgeous veil especially for me to complete the look. I will always remember her telling me that Zara had simply been waiting for me to come and find her.

Wedding Dress: Lorna wore Zara, a one-off Patricia Barclay wedding gown. The bodice was created in beautiful corded lace, with an elegant bateau neckline and delicate cap sleeves. From the waist, soft satin and layers of organza created the full ballgown silhouette, flowing into a dramatic cathedral-length train. A bespoke veil designed especially for Lorna completed the look.
