Lisa & Gordon

A magical Scottish winter wedding at Culcreuch Castle. Wrapped in tartan and wearing her famous wedding boots, Lisa proved that a bridal look can be both elegant and beautifully practical.

Lisa came to see me in August 2010 and together we customised her gown for the winter wedding she was planning in Scotland. She married Gordon at Culcreuch Castle, surrounded by snow, wearing her silk Patricia Barclay gown with tartan wrapped around her shoulders.

And then there were the boots.

Lisa wasn’t going to let snow get in the way of enjoying her wedding day, so underneath that beautiful gown was a rather more practical choice of footwear. Her message afterwards still makes me smile — everyone loved the dress, “even with the wellies.” A beautiful dress, a snowy Scottish wedding and a bride who wasn’t afraid to put her boots on and enjoy it.

My Journey: I first met Patricia in August 2010 and instantly knew I had found my dream dress. Together, we customised the design to create a gown that felt completely perfect for me and for the winter wedding I had always imagined. I married Gordon at the beautiful Culcreuch Castle in Stirlingshire. The snow-covered landscape created the most breathtaking backdrop and made our day feel like something from a fairytale. My silk Patricia Barclay gown was paired with one of my favourite wedding accessories – a pair of boots that kept me warm while still allowing me to enjoy every moment of our Scottish winter wedding. Looking back, they became part of the story and some of my favourite photographs from the day.
