Helen & Mick

When Helen first came to see me, she already had her eye on Daisy. But once she tried her on, the conversation quickly became about how we could take the elements she loved and make the dress completely her own. Helen knew what she wanted to change, and together we began creating a gown that felt more personal to her. That is one of the things I love about designing for an individual bride — an existing dress can sometimes be the beginning of the conversation rather than the finished answer.

From that first inspiration, Roberta was created — a gown that belonged entirely to Helen and carried a name with very special meaning to her. Seeing Helen wearing Roberta when she married Mick was the beautiful conclusion to a very personal design journey.

• My Journey: My wedding dress, Roberta, was never going to be just a wedding dress. Named after someone incredibly special to me, it held so much meaning from the very beginning and became a very personal part of my wedding journey. When I first met Patricia, I knew I was in safe hands. I wanted something timeless, elegant and effortless, and Patricia immediately understood exactly what I was looking for. Together, we created a gown that felt completely true to me, combining clean, modern lines with soft, feminine detailing. Watching my dress evolve from an initial sketch into the finished gown was such a special experience. Every detail was carefully considered and nothing ever felt rushed. Patricia listened to everything I wanted and somehow managed to bring my vision to life perfectly. On my wedding day, I felt confident, comfortable and completely myself. From the emotional moments with my family to celebrating with Mick, my dress was everything I had hoped it would be and more.

• Wedding Dress: Roberta began with Daisy. Helen loved the clean elegance of the original gown, but when she tried Daisy on, she knew exactly how she wanted to make the design her own. We raised the off-the-shoulder neckline to give Helen the coverage and shape she preferred and refined the skirt into a more fitted silhouette. The long sleeves retained the elegant simplicity that had first drawn Helen to Daisy, while a beautiful line of covered buttons travelled from the back of the bodice all the way down into the train. These carefully considered changes transformed the original inspiration into something distinctly Helen's. And with the finished design came a new name. Roberta, named after someone incredibly special to Helen, became more than a variation of Daisy. She became Helen's own bespoke wedding gown — personal in both design and meaning.
